Kimberly Corbitt

I guide the vision of Biscochito, starting it after building Santa Lucia, a support and residential services provider for people with developmental disabilities. It serves roughly 200 people and employs around 400 amazing caregivers throughout New Mexico.

I am funny, curious, compassionate, passionate, outspoken, focused, energetic, stylish, persuasive, and an excellent audience.

When I was nine I recruited the kids from the public housing apartments next door to go Christmas caroling at the retirement block around the corner. I can only imagine what the staff thought when we all showed up. We were a group of scruffy, vaguely organized hooligans who only knew the words to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I’d found a songbook and figured that was enough to get us in the door. Amazingly the staff let us in, and the residents gave us lots of butterscotch and peppermint candies – possibly to get us to stop singing.

I learned that day that I could make things happen and could connect with people I didn’t otherwise know. I’ve spent my life intentionally connecting with people who are in different places in their journey than I am, and that has made my life immeasurably rich and beautiful. Knowing others, advocating for them to have the life they want, and working with teams to create systems to amplify that work is my calling and fills me with joy.

I received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University with a degree in education and literature and was a teacher for several years before working in the pharmaceutical industry.
